Thank God Its Friday (TGIF)

Hi there, Thank God Its Frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriday!

Hope all is well with you all! It´s been a while or maybe, just a day past since my last post. There were reasons for that. As you might know, I just came back home where I have lots of emails to reply to, do a few stuffs here and there and the traffic in Accra too is something I can't really complain about at all. Trust me, all is coming to an end soon.

I woke up this morning feeling like moving out of Accra but all that changed a very good friend of mine came online and started talking about some business plans he has and wanna come into partnership with me so we can see them progressing, therefore, I have to put my going back on Tour GH Project aside.

We did talked at length till the power went off so our conversation just ended abruptly but all the same, we were able to cover the main and important issues so. Right now, I am going to relax a bit, play Fifa08 on the PS3 console and probably watch some movies.. How I wish I could have internet access wherever I go but hay, mind you.. Tis is Ghana, Africa and not that whiteman's country..

"Controversial Godfrey" called earlier, wanting to check on me. Just made him aware, I'm "Bien" and hoping to get back soon because life in ACCRA is still hoooooot!

On the forth-coming elections, I want to just say this. Whether it is NANA08 or ATTA08, that should be something you should decide yourself. I believe, there should be something like NDUOM08 too. What do you guys think??

I happened to have a chat with the Flag bearer of the Convention People's Party and he made me aware, the National Identification System was his idea but the EC saw it as a threat because this "GHANACARD" might replace the Voter's ID card when introduced and that might make the EC........! Your guess is as good as mine. If you want his cell number, I can let you have it for proof of this particular section.. Truly, "Yeresasum"

NB; The District Officers who helped us in our exercise whiles in Enchi might get their allowances today, hopefully, TODAY!.

Before anything else, I would say, most of the stuffs going to be appearing here will be my personal experiences and a few gossips on the field as we go about our exercise in the various districts where we shall be deployed. I'm not using this medium to report anybodies misdeeds but it could happen if it goes beyond the human rights of this land like in the case of one our tour drivers..

I gotta go now but I shall continue updating you all anytime I have access to the internet. Read about him and his deed in my next post..

The Tour GH Project Train

OK everybody, before you start reading this one I just want to prepare you- it's pretty long but never mind, its interesting as well.

Lemme start by paying respect to some of my colleagues on the field especially, Marcus Idiot, Marcus fool, Ishmael, Gideon, Controversial Godfrey, George, Biggie, Frank's, Festus, British-man, Togbe, Jerry, Mensah, Westerman, Eli (Great Malibu), Menassi, Marcus (moneyfresh), Pheephy, Timo, Sunday, Sea-Level, Askmin, Diallo, Francis's, Ekow Sam, Osei Asensu, Oscar and y'all. Forgive me if your name was not mention but hopefully, an incident will surely let your name come up here...

The number of operators on the field for the mass registration exercise is numbering 1500 and out of this, about 300 - 400 are sent to one district in every where region we held the exercise. In each group, we have one Official from NIA, 3 technical men and one system administrator. The technical men are responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, replacements of machine and distributing of logistics whiles the system admin is responsible for the good working condition of the MRW's.

Currently, we are on a 10days recess after which we shall continue with the mass registration exercise of Phase II of the Eastern Region before, there is a proposed meeting which shall take place either in Accra or Koforidua to address some issues arising from the field. NIA normally communicates to us on the field via text message from OneTouch's SMS Gateway. The current message that came reads;

"MRW Operators should take a ten day break. The date of next activity will be communicated to you shortly. Enjoy your holidays. Sender; NIA. Message Centre; +233200000007"

The tour train is currently in resting in the following towns of the Birim South and North, Kwahu West, East, North, South, Kwaebibirem. Atiwa, New Juabeng and Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar Districts.

The Phase II of the Eastern Region would take us to the following districts; Afram Plains, Akuapim North & South, Asuogyaman, Fanteakwa, Manya Krobo, West Akim and Yilo Krobo Districts. My group shall either be stationed at Manya Krobo or Afraim Plains but all the same, wherever we are taken, we are bound to have fun and feed out eyes..

Chaley, I am tired and need to rest for now,, I shall keep you all posted and updated.

National Identification System

You are most welcome to my Blog Page,

Somewhere in February of 2008, we had series of trainings and workshops at the Accra Training College which actually prepared us for this particular exercise. It all began when news started going round about the introduction of the National Identification System which will help the country in so many ways.

The National Identification System (NIS), will provide easy identification verification and information validation for passport issuance and renewal authentication.

Ghanaians living abroad can expect prompt service delivery when they can prove their nationality by producing their national identity cards at the various Ghana missions and Consulates abroad.

The “Ghanacard” will easily help in establishing the identities of Ghanaians resident abroad in difficult situations like emergency evacuations, and registration for voting.

The NIS and the use of the “Ghanacard” will both be helpful in preventing fraudulent uses of other national and official documents for identification purposes.

The ability of Ghana’s diplomatic missions to protect Ghanaian nationals abroad will be considerably enhanced by the NIS as it will provide them with incontrovertible or verifiable information in a timely fashion.

NIS will help eliminate corrupt and fraudulent practices that people engage in to have police criminal report issued from Ghana so as to attain permanent resident status.

The National Identification System will ensure efficiency in the operations of both public and private organizations. Through the national identification system, we will be able to:

  • Plan National Development based on up-to-date demographic data; and
  • Verify and Authenticate (with precision) the identities of people that we do business with.

Specifically, the NIS will offer a more reliable means for verifying people's identity when they:

  • Apply for admission to schools
  • Open bank accounts
  • Receive remittances
  • Register their businesses
  • Apply for passports
  • Attend hospitals.... etc

We therefore appeal to you to consider the National Identification System as your own program and participate in the registration process when the time comes. We need your support to make this program a success!
